Kaneh Co Chocolate Chip Cookie Review by OCWeedReview.Com

A new line of cannabis baked goods has been finding its way into the coolers and fridges of Orange County dispensaries, and it’s high time we reviewed them for our readers.  Kaneh Co. produces a range of edible potencies in a list of over 20 flavors, meaning that there is likely a favorite Kaneh Co flavor out there for you, but for this review, we were lucky enough to try their chocolate chip cookie.

Kaneh Co. bakes a large, flat cookie, just like it was fresh from your grandma’s cookie jar.  There are no fancy bells and whistles, just a basic but enticing chocolate chip cookie.  Much of this is due to Kaneh Co.’s use of natural, made-at-home ingredients, like eggs, butter, brown sugar, and vanilla.  Light and airy, patients needing the full potency will find it easy to complete in a single sitting.

For our review, we tested the 100 mg cookie.  However, stronger potencies are also available in Kaneh Co. edibles, ranging all the way up to 1000 mg.  Although clearly aimed at the high dose user, the relatively large size of the Kaneh Co. edibles means that the 100 mg versions can effortlessly be split into smaller doses for those new to edibles and unsure of their baseline potency.

I had my sample cookie early in the evening after a long day of work.  Physically and mentally fatigued, the Kaneh Co. chocolate chip cookie hit me with a strong, stoney high.  Physically relaxing and mentally distracting, it provided all the effects I needed after a high stress afternoon.  Paired with a favorite TV show, video game, or hobby, this is the way to unwind and end your busier days.  Just don’t forget a glass of ice cold milk in which dunk your cookie.

Kushy Punch Edible Review by OCWeedReview.Com

Few companies have managed such universal brand recognition as Kushy Punch has in our industry.  They seem to have an ad in every magazine and a booth at every event.  Around for as long as I’ve been a patient, it was a recent revamp in their product that has drawn me back in for a much closer look.  No longer the sticky, taffy like consistency they used to be, making cutting them to smaller servings difficult at best, the new and improved Kushy Punch is a pre-sliced gummy that is ready to dose right out of the package.

Conscious of the varied needs of their patients, Kushy Punch is available in a range of effects, each with its own flavor.  Coming in 80 mg of cannabinoids per pack are the strawberry sativa, raspberry hybrid, and cherry indica.  Each is true to its label.  The bright and euphoric sativa is excellent for mood enhancement, while the more sedative indica is great for pain and anxiety.  If you need a more rounded edible, the hybrid encapsulates the best of both for a balanced effect profile.  Kushy Punch also offers a lime flavored TKO version packing 200 mg for the high dose patient, and a 60 mg CBD for specific pain and anxiety relief with less psychoactivity.  Each of the unique and tasty flavors was true to form, and made with just a touch of organic sugar, each serving has just 7 calories.  However, there was a trademark bitterness in the throat after consumed, as is common with small but potent edibles.

I found these small, portable edibles to be incredibly convenient.  This starts with their portability.  The square box is just larger than a quarter and fits conveniently into your pocket, purse, or bag.  Through my product testing, I kept a box on me at all times so that the real world application of Kushy Punch could be examined.  Never caught without my medication, these tiny edibles were discreet enough to be used anywhere.  Fresh when first opened, they get a bit chewy if not consumed within a few days.  But even weeks after unwrapping for the first time, they were manageable, if not a bit gummy.  After having Kushy Punch available to me whenever I was caught needing to medicate, it is going to be hard imagining transitioning away from this innovative little edible now that we have completed our review.

Scoobie Dewbie Snacks from Incredibles Medibles Review by OCWeedReview.Com

It became painfully obvious, as we eventually grew up, that Shaggy and Scooby were potheads, and much like myself, they really aren’t fooling anyone.  Really, it is little wonder they were always so hungry for sandwiches.  So in appropriate fashion for these icons of marijuana, Incredibles Medibles has named one of their most addictive and satisfying edibles after everyone’s favorite stoner dog with their Scoobie Dewbie Snacks.

From out of the masses of overly sweet cannabis edibles comes an enjoyably different savory snack, saving my poor teeth from yet another sugary edible.  Starting with a base of standard hard pretzel bites, Incredibles Medibles adds their own cannabis oil and an infusion of dried garlic and an herbally blend of spice.  The taste of these Scoobie Dewbie Snacks continued to grow on me over the course of my test, and by the end, plain hard pretzels were forever ruined by this delicious flavor variant.

As with all Incredibles Medibles products, each pack of Scoobie Dewbie Snacks includes 160 mg of THC, more than enough for most patients.  Perfect as a munchable, each pretzel is low dose, meaning you can nosh your way through quite a few to achieve a moderate level.  But watch out: together and over time, it can add up to a torrent of potency that leaves you more medicated than originally intended.  Prevent this by portioning your doses ahead of time.

Scoobie Dewbie Snacks are a fine compliment to an evening entertaining guests, assuming no one eats too many, and can easily be mixed with other Incredibles Medibles savory edibles to make a tasty party mix.  Afraid of over medicating your guests, cut the infused pretzels with some non-medicated cheeze-its or Combos to increase munchability.  Whether enjoyed alone or with company, Scoobie Dewbie Snacks are a variable dose savory edible to fit your specific needs.

Banana OG from Moxie Extract Review by OCWeedReview.Com

It doesn’t take a long time browsing through the Review’s Instagram to see that we love Moxie.  Every half gram we come across in the shops is visually striking, just begging to be photographed.  But Moxie’s quality doesn’t reside in just its beauty.  These well rounded stunners are terpy and flavorful and incredibly potent, making them well worth the top shelf price.

Although a relatively obscure strain, Banana OG is likely a mix of an uncertain banana flavored strain and OG Kush.  Adding to the enigmatic genetic makeup is the possibility of it being the branded Apothecary Genetics hybrid.  If that is the case, then it adds in a second OG cut into the mix with SFV OG.

The flavor of Moxie’s Banana OG explodes with tropical pineapple and banana flavors.  An unmistakable profile, the daiquiri like taste is a great novelty, like sipping a tropical drink on white sand beach, and comes through in even high temp dabs.  The extract is barely opaque and tinted a luminous champagne yellow.  A well crafted shatter, only in the highest heat did it lose its hard, glassy consistency.

An easy hitting OG, Banana OG is not extreme or significant in its effects.  Instead, it is mellow and refreshing throughout its range.  At its peak, Banana OG can be a bit slowing — not so much couch-lock as simple contentment.  Like day drinking on vacation, it’s pure relaxation.

9 Pound Hammer from Royal Trees Collective Review by OCWeedReview.Com

This review marks the first appearance of Orange County delivery service Royal Trees Collective on the OC Weed Review, but with results like this, it certainly won’t be the last.  Purveyors of top notch genetics, Royal Trees Collective brings us a winner in this 9 Pound Hammer.  Yet another brilliant TGA Genetics creation, it is a hybrid of GooBerry (Afgoo x Blueberry) and Jesus OG (Hells OG x Jack the Ripper), pulling from some of the best of TGA’s stock for one unforgettable strain.

9 Pound Hammer’s conical buds are little Christmas trees, light green in hue and laden with burnt umber hairs.  There is also more than a frosting of creamy white crystals, giving these trees a bit of snowy holiday cheer.  The scent is equally bright and uplifting.  Hints of white grape, candied lime, and even juicy melon make 9 Pound Hammer undeniably sweet in its own uniquely fruity way.  It has been quite some time since I last smoked flower, and this was a great welcoming of me back into the fold.

Although a sativa man myself, I can still appreciate a great indica.  And this hybrid falls indica dominant with the Gooberry taking charge of the strain’s personality.  The full bodied spectrum of the high is effective for chronic pain and stress, both of which I have been feeling in spades lately, focused mainly in the back and shoulders from hunching over a computer.  Thankfully, there is no need to save 9 Pound Hammer for sundown like other, heavier indicas.  Lively enough to use all day long, the sedation is mild and rests mostly head, creating stoney thinking and distracting nicely from the anxieties of life.

Spliffin OG Vape Review by OCWeedReview.Com

f you are going to take on a signature strain for your company, you better make sure it’s a doozy — what with your brand name on the line and all.  And Spliffin’ does just that in their outstanding Spliffin’ OG, giving the type of experience you would expect from their flagship extract.  A nod to Spliffin’s location in LA’s Arts District, they pulled their genetics for Spliffin’ OG from SoCal’s favorite OG Kush.  They then cross it with Larry OG, a hybrid in itself of OG Kush and the SFV OG cut of OG.  All in all, Spliffin’ OG is a refined expression of what a classic OG strain can be.

Because Spliffin’ OG is a part of Spliffin’s superior Pure lineup of vape pens, you get all extract and no fillers, distinguishing them from many other brands. With their entire line of extracts testing in at over 70% THC, the vaporous hits you get are loaded with potency.  The high quality hardware of the cartridges matches the extracts inside.  Each cartridge has a solid, durable feel, without too much added weight, thanks to the stainless steel, and superior leak prevention due to use of exceptional materials.  I’ve yet to have a Spliffin’ cartridge fail on me in any way.  The tempered glass cylinder allows you to appreciate the golden color of the extract, while the wickless heating element makes sure you enjoy its vapor with consistently full hits.

The earthy flavor of the typical OG profile, woody and acidic, is enhanced here with a natural, floral note in the exhale.  As with any manifestation of OG Kush, Spliffin’ OG is an incredibly relaxed, if not a bit disconnected, high.  Perfect for anti-anxiety effects, stress melts away as the mind wanders from tense thoughts and is allowed to settle in unexpectedly pleasant places.  The body is also affected with a soft, melting physical high.  There is some lethargy, especially in the come down or if used with frequency.  This makes Spliffin’ OG an option for treatment of insomnia or to just settle a racing mind before bed.  I’ve come to be prepared for Spliffin’s potency, but their Spliffin’ OG seemed to hit me all the harder with its calming, sedating effects, forcing me to pause a moment during my normally hectic days.  And that makes it worth its weight in gold.

Dark Chocolate Mint 710 Bar Edible Review by OCWeedReview.Com

There is no shortage of medicated chocolate bars on the market today: probably because of the insane margin to be made.  But how does a company separate itself from the pack?  Some choose to go the high potency route, loading as many as 800 mg into a bar of chocolate.  Others go craft, making delicious confections that often come with a hefty price tag for the consumer.  The 710 Bar, given to us for review by the Royal Trees Collective, goes for both, ambitiously finding a way to include a pleasing taste into a 400 mg bar.

The 710 Bar is made with honey oil to achieve high potency without affecting taste, while organic coconut oil is used to bind the cannabinoids, assisting in absorption.  Any trace of cannabis taste is covered with the peppermint oil used for flavor.  The dark chocolate perfectly complements the cool peppermint, and the texture is creamy, almost buttery, similar to a minty hershey’s kiss.  The effect is a very natural tasting mint chocolate that stands above the typical medicated bar.

The packaging indicates a serving size to be the full bar.  At 400 mg, that is probably too much potency for most users.  However, a little math determines that each segment has 66.666 mg of THC.  This places it in a much more manageable category and a single segment dose is pretty comfortable for a moderate user like myself.

One of those powerful, red-eyed highs, the 710 Bar will have you in a comfortable haze about an hour after consumption.  Hold the chocolate in your mouth longer to promote sublingual uptake and faster effect onset.  Excellent for unwinding from a stressful day or to treat minor to moderate aches and pains, the 710 Bar provides a body melting high and accompanying mental disconnect that acts to soothe away a day’s worth of wear.

Jilly OG from Moxie Review by OCWeedReview.Com

I was asked once by a fellow patient whether Moxie extracts were really worth the $10-20 dollars more a gram it goes for in the shops.  To this, I answered, “Absolutely”.  I donate for other brands, all relatively similar in price and presentation.  But the results are always dark brown and tacky and anything but what I have come to expect in a quality shatter, leaving me disappointed when I get home.  So for a few bucks more, I grab Moxie and guarantee I’ll be happy with my choice in meds.

Upon unfolding the parchment this Jilly OG extract is stored in, the terpy scent hits you immediately: tropical and woody.  Flavorful dabs match this profile with a nectar sweet and light cypress wood dominating the subtle orange and spice notes.  The shatter itself is a pale yellow.  Thin and nearly clear enough to see through, Moxie has nailed clarity in this run, creating a perfect shatter.

A longtime favorite on the site, Jilly Bean is a hybrid of Orange Velvet and another popular strain around the office, Space Queen (Cindy 99 x Romulan).  This sativa dominant strain is then crossed with an unidentified OG, because it is Southern California and that’s what we do.  Mostly an upbeat and happy high, Jilly Bean is the kick in the ass needed some days to get motivated.  Adding the OG refines this into a more reposed, weekend strain for days tossing the frisbee at the beach, golfing, or otherwise enjoying your time off.

Terra Bites Chocolate Covered Blueberries from Kiva Confections Review by OCWeedReview.Com

Kiva Confections hosted the most impressive booth at the recent Cannabis World Business Expo in LA.  Resplendent in richly colored wood panelling and sporting the atmosphere of an exclusive boutique shop, the booth attracted visitors in droves, including yours truly, to sample their world-class chocolate and was a solid expression of Kiva’s brand at the Expo.

Here at the Review, we have been enormous fans of Kiva since our earliest days, regularly buying their tangerine chocolate bars from the now extinct Second Story dispensary in Santa Ana, so it comes as little surprise that we were just as pleased with their Terra Bites chocolate covered blueberries as with their chocolate covered espresso beans from our previous review.

One of the chief reasons for our love of these Terra Bites chocolate covered blueberries is their consistency, not just tin to tin, but from blueberry to blueberry.  For those patients who need low dose solutions to their medicating needs, Terra Bites are just what you are looking for at 5 mg of THC each.  Higher dose patients will also enjoy the ease of precise dosing these edibles allow.  Regardless of how many you enjoy at a time, you can trust in proper dosing in every bite.

The next factor to be considered, of course, is the Kiva chocolate’s taste.  As they were featuring at their well conceived booth, the chocolate used in their medicated bites and bars is decadently delicious and velvety smooth in the mouth.  A complexly flavorful creation, these Terra Bites start with dried blueberries generously dusted in cocoa powder.  After a layer of white chocolate is added, they are dusted again with raspberry and blueberry powder before a final layer of polished milk chocolate completes the effect.  Deceptively simple in appearance, the patience and attention to detail presented in these Terra Bites will keep you craving them again and again.

The low THC content per bite-sized piece means more control over your medicating.  At 5 mg of THC per bite, even beginners with the lowest tolerance can medicate safely with Terra Bites.  And at 120 total mg of THC per tin, there is value for the low dose user.  Those of us with higher tolerances will have to munch on quite a few more to reach our desired effects.  I found them most convenient when I needed discrete but continuous medicating, say at the office or while travelling.  Kiva uses a blend of indica and sativa strains in their edibles, creating a hybrid, full effect high to meet a range of patient needs.

From the informative packaging and trusted consistency to the inventively dynamic sweet and tart flavor, Kiva has provided us with a top of the line edible with their Terra Bites line of products.

Banana Spliff Cake from Incredibles Medibles Review by OCWeedReview.Com

As anyone who follows the Review probably already knows, I’m a big fan of banana bread.  And submitting banana bread samples is probably the most surefire way to get a glowing review.  There is simply no bad banana bread.  However, there is great banana bread: ones that are capable of putting others to shame.  Incredibles’ Banana Spliff Cake, an interesting take on a classic comfort food staple, is one of those banana breads.

The Banana Spliff Cake uses traditional banana bread ingredients, like walnuts and bananas, but is then accented with sweet chocolate chips.  My love of bananas is the key to my fondness of banana bread, so I was pleased to find the banana taste is delightfully present in every bite of the cake.  At first I thought the chocolate would clash with the banana bread motif, but like anyone who has had a frozen banana near Newport Beach, I soon realized the advantages of Gob’s “double chocolate, double nuts”.

As I described to one of my writer’s when I passed them an Incredibles Medibles cake, “Be careful; this high hits you like compound interest.”  Translation:  it builds and builds and then builds again.  More than once I was fooled by its slow come on into sampling just another few bites.  As always with edibles, be patient.  “You can always take more. You can’t take less.”  And you won’t need much of this 160 mg treat.  Even proficient edibles users will agree that high potency treats like this need to be shown respect.

The effects of the Banana Spliff Cake start as a social and outgoing high, making it great for depression, especially when tied to chronic pain.  That is because, before long, a strong physical buzz catches up, soothing pain in muscles and joints, and in one case for me, in my head in the form of migraine relief.  Eventually, the whole works leaves you stoned and comfortable, with far fewer negative effects than your traditional pain medication.

Alien OG from W Vapes Review by OCWeedReview.Com

W Vapes comes to us with one of the most advanced totally disposable pens on the market.  Loaded with 350 mg of Alien OG extracted cannabis oil, once empty, you simply throw the whole pen away, battery and all.  The environmental type?  So are W Vapes, and they encourage you to recycle your pens by mailing them back to them postage free.

One of our favorite characteristics of the W Vapes is its small and portable format.  Easily thrown into a pocket, these pens let you vape your cannabis anywhere vaping is allowed.  And because the W Vapes pen looks like any other disposable e-cigarette on the market, discreet medicating is a snap, regardless of your setting.

Overall, I was surprised at how sturdy these pens were, considering that they were completely disposable.  Although the tendency towards cheap construction is strong among disposable products, W Vapes uses durable parts to keep your pen working from beginning to end.  That said, I would discourage long storage of your pen once you begin use.  Tight draws become more of a problem when your pen is left sitting over time.

W Vapes use clean and safe supercritical CO2 extracted oil in their disposable pens, making them a healthy option when choosing a vape brand.  By the means of a proprietary technique, terpenes are separated and reintroduced during the extraction process to ensure strain specific characteristics in every pen.  This step places W Vapes apart from their competition, who usually see exhausted terpenes as an acceptable loss.

With most W Vapes oils coming in around 50% THC, they fall in the midrange for potency among vape pens, perfect for precise medicating without needing to worry about overdoing it.  Knowing W Vapes provides strain specific effects and flavors, I was expecting a stoney head, a sedated body, and a piney and citrus flavor.  Check, check, and… check.  A hybrid of Tahoe OG and Alien Kush, Alien OG is the heavy indica you’d expect from an OG and Kush hybrid, making this pen an effective solution for pain control, anti-anxiety effects, and insomnia relief.

Sherbert Tarantula Joint from Ganja Gold Review by OCWeedReview.Com

Ganja Gold bill themselves as the connoisseurs’ pre-roll: a bold claim, regardless of the item.  However, time after time, they prove it to be true.  Always a clean, even burn, Ganja Gold tarantula joints are more than worth the price they fetch.  Each joint is hand rolled with premium top shelf flower and finished with CO2 oil and a layer of kief: think Kurupt Moon Rocks, but as a pre-rolled joint.  There is an excessiveness to Ganja Gold’s tarantula joints that makes them a uniquely special product.

There has been a flourish of “flavored” joints similar in construction and price to these tarantulas from Ganja Gold.  And if you want your cannabis to taste like a sour apple ring pop, then by all means.  However, if you want nothing to get in the way of the complex flavor of top shelf flower, cannabis oil, and kief, then step up to the adult’s pre-roll and grab a Ganja Gold.

I always found the Sherbert strain of the GSC lineage to be a really stoney high.  Fitting for anti-anxiety relief after a stressful week, the loosening of the muscles and joints help you unwind and even soothes away minor aches and pains.  A nice compliment to an evening watching tv, out at the movies, or plopped in front of the Playstation, be sure to plan your munchies ahead and keep them close.  The appetite stimulation of Sherbert is intense; matched only by its couchlock.

The Herbal Chef THC Infused Cuisine Review by OCWeedReview.Com

For the longest time, cannabis and food meant skunky brownies and rice krispy treats, made at home or bought out of the back of a van at the Phish show.  However, as the industry matures, they are slowly learning that you can put cannabis in just about anything that uses butter or oil, opening up a world of infused culinary possibilities.  This, of course, culminates in the work of Christopher Sayegh, The Herbal Chef.  Creating fully serviced multi-course, cannabis infused meals, he is putting a whole new twist on the catered dinner party.

Coming from a family that embraced cooking and eating together, a career as a chef was a natural undertaking for Chris.  However, it wasn’t until his technique was hardened in the kiln that is the kitchen of a Michelin rated restaurant that Chris became the chef he is today.  Training extensively under James Beard Award winning head chefs, the gratifying experience is recalled fondly by him as, “the hardest time of my life.”  Since then, Chris has been bringing his skill and passion to medicated fine dining, cooking under the Herbal Chef brand for the past six years.

Preparation for Chris’s meals begins months in advance with visits to the event’s location to begin searching for his ingredients from neighboring farms.  Truly adopting a locally sourced attitude, Chris pulls his seasonal menus from the event’s surrounding area to put the diner in touch with the region.  Ingredients not obtained locally are brought in from carefully selected vendors, such as certified Wagyu beef from Japan, fine imported caviar, and prized truffles.  Doing whatever it takes to craft the perfect culinary experience, Chris is not above foraging for his own culinary elements, including perfectly paired wines and liquors from Napa and beyond.

Each The Herbal Chef meal is customizable, though Chris works best when kept off a tight leash.  Surprising even the pickiest of palates, he uses his extensive training in taste and texture to craft adventurous menus, often featuring methods that Chris himself refers to as avant garde.  Even just a glance into his favorite courses reveals this bold spirit: options include fennel panna cotta, apricot gele, and smoked pepper; locally sourced seasonal vegetables, basil and cayenne oils, and a mozzarella “cloud”; or leg of lamb, escargot, foraged mushrooms, and an arugula “moss”.  Creativity in craft and presentation allows Chris to conceive breathtaking meals.  The dinners themselves can be medicated at varying doses for individual guests, meaning everyone at the table is able to enjoy the entire meal, regardless of their tolerance level or usage.

From planning to execution to cleanup, Chris and his team take care of everything, leaving guests to enjoy the experience worry free.  The Herbal Chef events include an educational session about cannabis dosing and edibles, pairing information about wine and liquor choices, and detailed descriptions of each course, making these catered dinners accessible to all levels of patient, regardless of their experience with either cannabis or cuisine.

Roll-uh-Bowl Review by OCWeedReview.Com

We all know the feeling of breaking a cherished glass piece.  The long second as it lingers, then falls, bringing your heart crashing to the ground with it.  It’s a far too common occurrence, magnified by today’s on the go stoner.  I’ve been guilty, myself, of perilously resting my favorite rig on a rock high up on the hiking trail or sharing it around with slippery fingered strangers at one of the many cannabis conventions at the NOS Center in San Bernardino, inviting an inevitable tragedy.

Thankfully, Roll-uh-Bowl has set out to help us avoid such dangers.  Portable and compact, their silicon bongs can go with you anywhere: folding down from 8 inches tall to pocket sized.  They are also incredibly durable.  There is no need here for some complicated pelican case to protect your precious glass; the silicon can take all the abuse you give it.  And a sturdy composite downstem ensures you’ll be using your Roll-uh-Bowl for years to come.

One of our favorite benefits of the Roll-uh-bowl was its convenience.  Because it can be taken with you so easily, it has found its way with us to concerts and festivals, hikes and camping trips, and even out on the water on a stand up paddle board.  Just unfold it when you need it, and then drain it to store again for later.  The Roll-uh-Bowl can even be used with a domeless nail for dabs.  (check out this video to see how it works)  This means that dabbers can leave their most precious glass at home where it is safe and still enjoy their favorite extract wherever they go.

Most significantly, the Roll-uh-Bowl is safe for the user.   Made with the same medical grade silicon as baby bottle nipples, patients don’t have to worry about the leaching of harmful chemicals during use.  Cleanup is easy too, thanks to the silicon construction.  Save the rock salt and rubbing alcohol, all you need is soap and water.  Or even better, just toss it in your dishwasher for a cycle.

The essential smoking piece for the active stoner, the Roll-uh-Bowl can go with you on any adventure.  But more importantly, it will come home with you, too.  For more information, visit roll-uh-bowl.com
